What’s an outcome?

An outcome is something we measure to see how effective a treatment is. Outcomes include things like pain, mobility, satisfaction, or bone healing—some matter most to patients, while others are clinical results checked by healthcare professionals.

What is this study about?

We’re developing a Core Outcome Set (COS) for lower limb lengthening surgery. This means patients, clinicians, and researchers will agree on the most important outcomes—both clinical and patient-focused—to measure in every future study.

Why is this important?

Right now, studies often measure different outcomes, making it hard to compare results or know what works best. Agreeing on a common set of outcomes will improve research, support better care, and focus on what matters most to everyone.
